What a treat this was! Since we met at my own gallery some time ago, Sheldon and I have been going back and forth with updates on our latest expositions. When he invited me to have a look at Angelika’s and his work at Nitroglobus Hall I was in for a pleasant surprise. Such a wonderful gallery!
The Black and white interior, the mirroring effect in combination with the animated floor, is something you really need to experience for yourself! Dido Haas is the owner of the gallery and her friend Nitro was the genius who came up with this idea for a gallery. Brilliant indeed.
The exposition Shadows of a Dream consists of works from SheldonBR and Angelika Corral. They always do shows together and it’s a wonderful mix of works to look at.
Though their subject matter, the human (often female) body, and love for Monochrome is a joint factor, their tools are different.
Sheldon works with charcoal, pastel and conté, drawing beautiful shapes of female bodies, with gestures and motion. His drawings of the sensuality of a female back are a joy to look at.
Angelika works with digital tools, photographing in SL and using her own poses to translate her moods and ideas into images. It is hard to see whether her pictures are pixels of pixelated people, or pixels of real life ones. Her skills of use of light are something to aspire to! She has a flickr page: Angelikacorralsl.
Both artists, besides having subjects and monochrome in common, also seem to share an attraction for sensuality and melancholy in their works. Shadows of a Dream is a fitting title indeed.
This exposition (Feb/March 2016) as well as the Nitroglobus Hall itself are very much worth a visit!
